Backpacking is a fun and exciting way to get outdoors more and explore more remote destinations. It can be intimidating getting started -- but once you start, you won't want to stop!

It's important to get some easy trips under your belt first so you can build your confidence and test out all your gear. I wish I had known these tips before my first backpacking experience. I chose an incredibly beautiful trail, but the elevation gain nearly took me out.

But it still got me completely hooked!
