The models produces between 1972 and 1978 have tubular style eyecups. The design was based on the Zeiss 7x40 but with smaller prisms for weight reduction. The models made until 1998 have a monolayer magnesium fluroride coating on the lenses. These models even came with coated prisms. Until 1998 Zeiss Jena glass was used which had a strong yellow tint. After 1998 all production went to export except for very few and Schott Glass was used and the strong yellow tint dissapeared. The last models where made in 2018,all for export to the US and a few other countries. These models had T3 multicoating, better rubber and the image was neutral in color.
