Blaenwern - Sarah Quartel [Johannus LiVE III AGO]

Описание к видео Blaenwern - Sarah Quartel [Johannus LiVE III AGO]

The Welsh hymn tune Blaenwern is very well known, perhaps most frequently being sung to the hymn "Love divine all love's excelling". Sarah Quartel's composition based upon it is rightly described as a dance, with the instruction to the player on the copy being that it should be "Bright and singing". If you thought that Blaenwern couldn't possibly work as a 5/4 dance, have a listen and prepare to be persuaded that it can! It is dedicated to Gregg Redner and published in the latest volume of Oxford Hymn Preludes for Organists (Volume 8: General). Find out more about the volume, here:

This recording was made on a Johannus Live III AGO organ, using the sample of the fine Hill organ in the church of the Holy Name, opposite the University of Manchester on Oxford Road, Manchester. The sample sets can be heard from four positions: console, front of the church, centre of the church, rear of the church. This recording uses the rear of the church position, affording the most generous recording of the wonderful acoustic in this fine building.
