This type of house is fairly common in older neighbourhoods, where the owner had only a narrow strip of land to build on. All sections of the house are side by side. The hallway connecting them is the outside, but there are also small doors inside. However, going from end to end through these doors would be inconvenient. The bedrooms are low-ceiling lofts above the communal areas. There are ladder-like steps up to the rooms, which protrudes into the room underneath the loft.
