The Benelli Tornado 302 has created a lot of curiosity among Indian.
It will be the first fully-faired offering from the Italian manufacturer in India and will compete with the likes of the Yamaha YZF-R3, Kawasaki Ninja 300 and the KTM RC 390.
Benelli is now one of the fastest growing premium motorcycle brands in India, with its highly successful entry-level and middleweight performance motorcycles. The company is offering a range of naked motorcycles varying from 250cc to 1130cc and one 600cc tourer. Now, the company is going to add its first fully-faired bike to its Indian fleet by the end of October 2016. The upcoming bike is the Benelli Tornado 302 which was showcased at the Auto Expo in February this year.

The launch has been confirmed by the DSK Motowheels' chairman, Shirish Kulkarni, in an interaction with Autocar. Pune-based DSK Motowheels is assembling, marketing and selling the Benelli and Hyosung bikes in the Indian market. And, like the other offerings from the Italian manufacturer, the new Tornado 302 will also be launched via the CKD route and will be assembled at DSK Motowheels' Wai plant, near Pune.

It uses the same 300cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin engine that makes 36PS at 12,000rpm and delivers a peak torque of 27Nm at 9,000rpm in its naked sibling. The motor comes mated to a 6-speed gearbox and the Tornado 302 claims a top speed of 170kmph, which one can only believe after testing it.
