UNARMED vs. SWORD Defense is Just Fantasy (Mostly)

Defending with bare hands against a weapon is taught in some form in a number of martial arts (both contemporary and historical). Including some really questionable techniques that downplay the danger of such a situation.

So let's take a closer look at a few of the potential options, and how likely they are to succeed (or fail). Also a real-world test where an experienced boxer has a sparring match against a Kendo practitioner, and a few words about unarmed vs. sword defense from a Kenjutsu master.

Real life is not quite like the heroic feats of main characters with plot armor in movies and video games, that's for sure. ;)
