Watch: CINI launched Mobile Medical Unit to provide health service in remote areas in Nadia.

KRISHNAGAR, 4 FEB: Child in Need Institute (CINI) has launched a Mobile Medical Unit (MMU) to meet the needs of communities residing in remote areas of Nadia district.
It is for the first time in the state, such MMU service in collaboration with the district health department has been launched on hopes to facilitate access to public health care particularly to people living in remote, difficult, under-served and unreached areas.
The objective of this strategy is to take healthcare to the doorstep of populations, particularly rural, vulnerable and under-served areas. This is not meant to transfer patients.
Partha Ghosh, district magistrate and Aparesh Bandapadhyay, chief medical officer of health flagged off Mobile Medical Unit from the district hospital campus in presence of Dr Indrani Bhattacharya, chief executive officer of CINI and the authorities of Fullerton India.
Speaking at the launch of the MMU, Mr Ghosh said that keeping in view of the better health care service delivery to people, the MMU service, as an ambitious step programme has been undertaken and it is probably the first time in the state.
MMU services are envisaged to meet the technical and service quality standards for a Primary health Centre through provision of a suggested package of services under several thematic areas which include Maternal Health, Neonatal and Infant Health, Child and Adolescent health, Reproductive Health and Contraceptive Services, Management of Chronic Communicable Diseases, Management of Common Communicable Diseases & basic OPD care (acute simple illnesses), management of Common Non-Communicable Diseases, Management of mental Illness, Emergency Medicine. These services are provided free of cost through MMUs, besides enabling referrals.
CMOH, Dr Bandopadhyay said, “The CINI in collaboration with the district health department will provide health care service at the location where more health services are needed. We will locate the sites and they will provide health services to the doorstep and conduct awareness programme.”
Dr Indrani Bhattacharya said, “The CINI family will offer free screening for non-communicable diseases (NCDs), hypertension, diabetes along with general health check-ups, to people living in remote areas of Nadia district\.
