The Art of Hunting in the Himalayas | Hunting with Locals in Rural Nepal | Full Documentary Film

Описание к видео The Art of Hunting in the Himalayas | Hunting with Locals in Rural Nepal | Full Documentary Film

Hunting has been an important part of people's livelihoods in remote parts of Nepal. The Himalayan tribes, such as the Kham Magars have been hunting deer and blue sheep for centuries. Today the hunters use home-made riffles, but the weapon of choice in the past used to be the bow and arrow. In the film we follow a group of hunters from Maikot village that go on a hunting expedition in north Rukum district, in West Nepal. The hunters first perform a puja and other rituals, and then prepare all the necessary things for the hunt: they repair the old riffles, make bullets and finally disucuss the startegy of the hunt. The hunt in the film was not succesful in the end, but the tradition of hunting of the Kham Magars, was nontheless recorded for the first time.
