In this video I start my new Scott Finlay G320 Evolution (reed case) engine for the first time and start the break-in procedure. My break-in procedure is a combination/mix of tips which I got through the years from OBR, Botajell, Rich Gordon, some local friends and my own ideas. I broke in the engine of my MTXL this way also more or less and that engine is still running great after many liters/gallons of fuel.

My break-in procedure:
I mix 1:24 cheap break-in oil with Euro 95 gasoline (The Netherlands). For this engine I used the stock oil which comes with a HPI Baja when you buy it new.
15 minute heat cycle with very rich settings on the low and high speed needle. After this let the engine cool down completely.
5 minutes warming up (idling) and then 15 minutes driving very mild. Only 1/3 - 1/2 throttle. No high RPM's. After this let the engine cool down completely once again.
Second time driving the engine with 5 minutes warming up again and then 15 minutes driving. Still mild on the gas but now some higher RPM's and 1/2 to 3/4the throttle. Don't stay on the throttle too long. Let the engine cool down again completely.
With the third and final break-in tank I will drive the truck even harder with max RPM's this time, but not for a very long time. Only for 1-3 seconds maybe. So short bursts. After this third tank (3 x 15 minutes of driving) my break-in tank will be empty so I switch over to better quality oil (Motul Kart Grand Prix) and mix 1:25 for the first gallon (3.7 liter). I drive the truck like I normally will but keep the settings still rich. Don't tune the carb yet for max performance.
After the first gallon is done I mix my gasoline at 1:28 and start tuning the carb for max performance.
