Semirara Mining and Power Corporation (SCC) Contract Extension Denied by DOC: What This Means for Investors
SCC shares plunged 21.39% to ₱26.10 on February 16, 2026 after the Department of Energy (DOE) confirmed no extension for its coal operating contract on Semirara Island. The contract expires in July 2027 and will go to competitive public bidding later this year. SCC can participate and is widely seen as the frontrunner due to its existing infrastructure and expertise, but uncertainty remains.
