Nissan 240SX Brakes: How To Replace The Master Cylinder On Your S13

To complete the big brake swap on your 240SX you'll need the following parts:

-1995 Nissan 300ZX master cylinder (Z32)
-Stainless steel brake lines ( I used ISR part: IS-N300ZX)

Make sure you get S13 specific brake lines with banjo bolts. You can keep your OEM brake lines if they are in good condition.

In my previous "how to" video, I showed you how to install Cadillac CTS-V calipers and Nissan 300ZX rotors on an Nissan 240SX S13:

Tutorial Steps:

1) Remove old master cylinder
Mark the lines with tape so they're easy to fit back on. If you have an S13 the lines will fit up perfectly. If you have an S14, you will need to re-bend the lines to make them fit. You'll need a 10mm wrench.

2) Remove the plastic reservoir
You will be able to re-use the old reservoir and the wiring for the brake fluid level warning light.

3) Remove the fitting
Grind out the fitting on your old master cylinder and move it to the new one. Alternately, you can make a bubble flare on the hard brake line. I show you how to flare a brake line here:    • Nissan 240SX Brake Swap -  Part 3  - Brake...  

4) Move the reservoir to the new master cylinder
Make sure that the reservoir seats properly.

5) Install the new master cylinder
Make sure you don't over tighten the lines or they will leak. You'll need a 10mm wrench.

6) Install the stainless steel brake lines
Make sure the stainless steel brake lines don't touch the suspension

7) Move the brake bleeding screws
Swap the brake bleeders and the fluid line so that the bleeders are at the top of the caliper. If they are on the bottom you will have air in your brake system.

8) Install the pads
The pads will drop right in. Use a punch or a socket extension to lightly tap the pins into place
