State Bank of India (SBI), the country's largest bank, disclosed a 35.5% year-on-year decrease in standalone net profit, amounting to ₹9,163 crore for the quarter concluding on December 31, 2023. This decline was attributed to a one-time exceptional item of ₹7,100 crore. In the corresponding quarter last year, the net profit stood at ₹14,205 crore. The net interest income (NII), representing the variance between interest earned and expended, exhibited a 4.5% YoY increase, reaching ₹39,815.73 crore for the third quarter.
