The primary purpose of pouring concrete (usually cement mortar or concrete) over the waterproofing layer is to protect it, enhance its waterproofing effectiveness, and prolong its lifespan. The concrete layer acts as a barrier, preventing damage from external factors such as ultraviolet rays, temperature fluctuations, and mechanical damage, thereby reducing the risk of leakage.

When the concrete and waterproofing layer are tightly bonded, they form a complete waterproofing system, improving overall waterproofing performance and reducing the likelihood of leakage. By reducing environmental erosion and mechanical damage, the aging of the waterproofing layer is delayed, reducing the need for maintenance.

Ordinary Portland cement and medium/coarse sand are preferred. Ensure the surface of the waterproofing layer is free of cracks and debris, and repair any unevenness. A 20-30mm thick concrete layer is recommended, with a curing period of 7-14 days.
