50 Years ago Today : The test Debut of Sir Gordon and Sir Viv
West Indies vs India at Bangalore

A Phillip Spooner Production.

I recently had the amazing opportunity to interview the greatest of the Greats – Sir Viv and Sir Gordon. The energy of these two gentlemen – both now 70+ is amazing.

You couldn’t help but be engaged as they told the stories of their illustrious career and a few nuggets of wisdom about things off the field. It was just “Cricket, Lovely Cricket”, nostalgia, upliftment and some humor.

What they agreed on:
Maco was the maestro
Collis was the King of 1979 final
Lloyd was the ultimate leader

Both ended their careers with stellar records. Sir Viv played 121 matches and made 8,540 runs at an average of 50.2. His best score was 291 against England at The Oval on the historic 1976 tour of England. In his first-class career he made 36,212 runs with 114 centuries.
