On *10th August 2025**, Eastern Railway introduced West Bengal’s first **AC local train* on the **Sealdah–Ranaghat section**, bringing a new level of comfort to suburban travel. This fully air-conditioned EMU train is designed to provide relief from the sweltering heat and congestion that daily commuters face on one of the state’s busiest routes.

The Sealdah–Ranaghat AC local comes equipped with **automatic sliding doors**, **CCTV surveillance**, **LED display boards**, and **comfortable cushioned seating**. Its modern design ensures quieter rides, better ventilation, and consistent cooling throughout the journey.

Covering the roughly *40 km stretch* between Sealdah and Ranaghat with multiple stops, the service targets office-goers, students, and long-distance passengers who prefer a more relaxed and dust-free travel experience. While the fare is higher than regular local trains, it remains much more affordable than private transport options, making it a practical upgrade for many.

Eastern Railway officials have called the launch a **milestone in Bengal’s suburban rail network**, with plans to introduce more AC local services on other key routes in the near future.
