Toddlers bite for various reasons: they might struggle with emotions like anger or frustration, seek attention, alleviate teething discomfort, or out of curiosity. Understanding why they bite is key to addressing and curbing this behavior.

Here's what you can do to help stop toddler biting:

Avoid Biting Back: Don't bite your child to show it hurts; it doesn't effectively stop the behavior.

Avoid Labeling or Punishing: Labeling your child as a "biter" or punishment can worsen the situation.

Remain Calm yet Firm: Stay composed; fear-based discipline isn't a good long-term solution.

Clear Communication: Say "No biting" without exceptions.

Remove from Situation: If your child bites, move them away from the scenario.

Comfort the Victim: Comfort the child bitten, to avoid reinforcing the behavior.

Provide an Alternative: Show them a gentle action, like a kiss, to substitute biting.

Ensure Consistency: Ensure family members and caregivers are on the same page regarding discipline.

If these strategies don't work or if the issue worsens, seeking professional help from a pediatrician or therapist might be necessary. Some conditions like speech delay or sensory processing disorders might need specialized attention from a behavioral therapist or a specialist experienced in these conditions.
