This is a real-world city hypermiling test with a 2015 BMW i3 REx 60Ah. Many people do this on closed courses or empty roads, but I wanted to see what would be possible on public roads. I did this by going on mostly backroads, and accelerating very slowly. I was averaging 8.5 mi/kWh for a long time, but it dropped quickly when I had to go on a 35 MPH road. I ended up with 8.0 mi/kWh, which is extremely impressive! Do not try this at home and always obey the posted speed limits wherever you are. Please drive safely!
