I've been listening to Van Morrison lately and he never fails to inspire me - that unforgettable voice and incredible songwriting ability. Today I wanted to do a deep dive into "Tupelo Honey" because I was listening to it and thought it would be perfect to break down for guitar players.

The song is played with a capo on the third fret and uses just four chords: G, B minor, C, and D. I'll show you a really simple way to play it first with just two downstrokes on each chord, then build up to more sophisticated strumming patterns and some nice little licks you can add in between. For those who struggle with the B minor chord, I demonstrate several different ways to finger it so you can find what works best for you.

I also share some of those special "connective tissue" licks - hammer-ons on the D and G strings that add flavor to the song, plus a palm muting technique that adds some dynamic drama to your playing.
