Giant Spaghetti Carbonara Italian Pasta Challenge in Rome, Italy!!

A&Z #828 - Atlas vs Il Maritozzo Rosso's Giant 1kg Spaghetti Carbonara Italian Pasta Challenge at Il Maritozzo Rosso in Rome, Italy. Back at the beginning of January earlier this year, my sister and I traveled to Italy to celebrate her 30th birthday which was on January 3rd. I attempted 2 giant food challenges in Rome, Italy and another one in eastern Italy, in a city called Savorgnano, Italy. For food challenge #2, I went to Il Maritozzo Rosso in Rome, Italy and took on their giant 1kg Spaghetti Carbonara Italian Pasta Challenge. I had 1 hour to finish 1kg (2.2lbs dry weight) of thick spaghetti noodles with 500g (~1lb) of pork cheek and an Italian carbonara sauce that includes 12 egg yolks. The whole bowl of food weighed around 6lbs total and the record to beat was a super fast 10:36. I was trying to finish and get my meal free, plus become the 5 champion with my name and photo up on their Wall of Fame!! HUGE thanks to Eduardo the owner and everyone with Il Maritozzo Rosso for the wonderful food, drinks, and hospitality!! BIG thanks especially to everyone who came up to watch and meet us that night!! Il Maritozzo Rosso's 1kg Giant Spaghetti Carbonara Italian Pasta Challenge (€38):

– Il Maritozzo Rosso is known around Rome, Italy for their delicious pastas and Italian food dishes.
– The main portion of this pasta challenge is the 1kg (2.2lbs dry weight) of thick spaghetti noodles.
– There is a thick carbonara sauce that features lots of ingredients, including 12 egg yolks.
– There is around 500g (1lb) of pork cheek sprinkled in and on top.
– There is a 1 hour time limit to finish the entire bowl of spaghetti carbonara pasta.
– Winners receive the €38 Italian pasta meal free and spot on their Wall of Fame.
– Please call ahead in advance and schedule your challenge if interested.
