Here are some tips from a 4th generation dry cleaner for DYE stains on leather:

1) A water based leather cleaner is a must have if you want to touch up / care for your leather garments at home. Thankfully this bag was non-aniline leather (it's got a top coat seal where stains are usually trapped as opposed to going into the actual leather) and the dye stains came out easily.

2) A dry solvent like rubbing alcohol or a leather cleaning solvent/spirit is a more aggressive option for dye stains however it was too strong!

You MUST MUST MUST test the product you intend to use in a small hidden area before using it on your stain. While the alcohol would have removed the stain it would likely have changed the finish and color of the stained area.

A leather conditioner paired with a dye and friction preventer are also great products to have.
