Today we review a special bottle of a great bourbon!! This is a store pick, classic labeled bottle shared with us by a friend of Old Weller Antique 107. Originally owned by the Stitzel-Weller Distilling Company, the expressions are named after William Larue Weller, who was reputedly the first whiskey-maker to use wheat as the secondary grain instead of rye. This bottle is signed by a descendant of Weller.

The nose is sweet with vanilla, cherry and apple notes. The palate is so smooth and really sweet...so easy to drink. The finish holds on to the sweet notes, coats the whole tongue and lingers for a while. With a small amount of water, the nose doesn't change much. The palate does bring forward a little more spice or oak note and gets a little hotter. The notes could have been muted a bit with the age of the bottle but overall this is a great bourbon! We highly recommend you try Antique if you have the opportunity!! Cheers!!
