This is awesome! I am rocking a 3TB ROG Ally.

You’ll need a small Phillips screw driver and you’ll need a 2230 M.2 NVMe SSD. You also need the latest 3.19 BIOS.

The website said you need to deplete the battery to 25% or less, which is easily done by just playing a game on battery and before you know it, voila, 5%. You need to fully shut down Windows, make sure there is no spinning fan or flickering lights. The ROG Ally needs to be completely off.

Remove the SD card if you have one, remove the screws and the back plate. Flip over the flap and remove the SSD. After you install the new SSD, I would plug in the ROG Ally and hold down the volume down and power button at the same time. This should bring up the Asus BIOS.

Exit the EZ mode (press Y) and go the advanced tab on the BIOS and select the Asus Cloud Recovery. According to the website, it should automatically detect and download everything you will need to run the ROG Ally system, including their SE version of the Armoury Crate.

Depending on your WiFi access, this may take a few hours to download.

Also, if you screw it up the new SSD or if the new SSD is causing problems (overheating?), the beauty is that you can always put back in the old SSD and pretended like nothing happened.
