Macron backs Poland’s position on Ukraine peace settlement | Wiesław Tarka

Peace in Ukraine must be lasting - and negotiated by Ukrainians. That was the message from French President Emmanuel Macron as he met with Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk in Warsaw on Thursday. It comes as Europe faces pressure from the incoming Donald Trump administration to bring peace to the region. President Macron’s visit to Poland highlights Warsaw’s growing role in Europe. The upcoming Polish presidency in the Council of the European Union will be both a challenge and an opportunity for the Polish government to exert influence over the body.
