Martial arts seminar with Pierre Congard. Techniques of the empty hand, with the sword (bokken) and the stick (jo) are taught.

Pierre Congard is a professional Aikido teacher and technical director of the "Freie Deutsche Aikido Vereinigung e.V." (FDAV). He holds the 6th Dan Aikikai and is a longtime student of Tamura Shihan (8th Dan Aikikai) and Toshiro Suga (7th Dan Aikikai). He was born in Brest in Brittany and began practicing Aikido in 1978 at the "Aikikai de Brest". He has been teaching Aikido in Schwerin and Rostock since 1993. His aim is to popularize and establish Aikido as a martial art in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern and Germany. To date, he has given around 100 Aikido demonstrations at various events, runs taster courses at schools and is active in the "Sport instead of violence" project of the Mecklenburg-Vorpommern Ministry of the Interior. At least 17 of his students now teach themselves and some have founded their own dojos in Germany, France and Norway.

We show what martial art we train together in Rostock, what path we follow in Aikido. Aikido is a way that welds together. Aikido is a martial art but does not lead to the ring. The martial art trains social skills, long-term and holistic fitness and much more. The competition does not exist in the martial art, yet we maintain training components (GoNoGeiko: hard, realistic practice) which represent a kind of competition.
