Abstract:
Environmental sensing and sense making is a key technological component of the work of the National Environment Agency (NEA). In this talk, Wee Khiang shares how this was used in recent events and what are some of the research priorities for NEA going forward.

About the speaker:
Mr Toh Wee Khiang is the Director of the Environment Technology Office (ETO) at the National Environment Agency (NEA). The ETO's mission is to develop a vibrant R&D ecosystem in environmental management as well as to catalyse technological testbeds to support NEA's operations.

He started his career in the Tax Department of Price Waterhouse. Prior to joining NEA in April 2012, he spent 16 years in the Economic Development Board where he had leadership roles in the Business Environment, Human Capital, Education & Professional Services and Building & Infrastructure Solutions Divisions. These roles involved the formulation of tax and investment incentive policy, national manpower planning and industry development. Wee Khiang graduated with a First Class Honours Degree in Accountancy from the Nanyang Technological University.
