Billy Joel has journeyed from vinyl to digital download (the first commercial CD release was "52nd Street" in 1978!), and said once that an album shouldn't be longer than 60 minutes ("no one needs to hear more than an hour of me"). Now, he's releasing music simply as a single track (as do many other artists, these days)! He has also said he has no "basement tapes," so all his songs have worked their way into his releases.
Today, he is releasing his first single in 17 years, and it's been over 30 years since his last pop album!
