• I bumped into Andy Freeze a few times about 15 years ago and on one occasion I asked about the Vains record because it fucking rules and why wouldn’t I? He told me they recorded it in the basement of a guitar shop in an after hours session starting at midnight in the middle of the week. 3 hour session from what I recall. He also told me he was only 14 when they did it too. I never asked if he had to sneak out or if his parents were just that chill. Much like the Machines EP I just posted, this Vains (sadly, their only) EP is another one night stand that is pure lightning.
• Mine is a cardstock sleeve but both sleeve versions are from the same press (1,000 copies)

Originally I wanted to use footage from the movies that they ripped off the poster art from for the sleeve of the record. I cannot, for the life of me, figure out what movie the “School Jerks image is from. Looks real familiar but I can’t place it. So I opted to use The Changeling which was shot in Seattle and came out the same year as the record. Peanut butter, meet jelly, jelly, peanut butter. #SWAK.
