Trick Ford Escape Allow LED Lowbeam Using Relay

Описание к видео Trick Ford Escape Allow LED Lowbeam Using Relay

My 2013 Ford Escape's computer thinks it's smarter than I am, and that an LED low-beam bulb doesn't draw enough current, so after about a second, it shuts it OFF. This is stupid.

So I wired in a pair of accessory relays to tap power from the marker lights, using the brief low-beam power to close and latch the relay closed, and therefore the lowbeam stays on even after the idiot computer has shut off power.

The relays were $9ea at O'Reilly Auto Parts, wire taps & other crimp connectors about another $2. So all told about a half hour and $20 to enable LED low-beams. Not cheaper than the big-heat-sink 6-ohm resistors some people use to shunt enough amperage draw to trick the computer into thinking there's still a halogen bulb, but I just didn't want to put little heaters under the hood - that seemed foolish.
