Every parent makes mistakes. But the biggest parenting mistake we make is to assume that we know how to parent our children and we don’t need to learn anything new. We weigh things based on how our parents parented us and our way of parenting. While we grow up, we make a sincere note in our minds about things we do or don’t want to do with our children. Okay, this parenting skill of my parents worked for me so I can use it on my children. This parenting method has not worked on me so I will not use it on my children. These are the common parenting mistakes we all do.



When a child is born, we want to give them the best of everything—lifestyle, education, environment and time. So there is never a bad parent because what you do for your children nobody in this world will ever do the same for them. We think we have a lifetime of experience in parenting that we learned while growing up. But it is untrue. What worked for us 30 years back would possibly not work for our children today. To believe the old ways of parenting would work on our children is one of many mistakes parents make while parenting their children.



Sushant Kalra suggests parenting tips in this video. One of them is: Every child is unique so the parenting skills required for them would be different too. Also, what existed at your time may not fully be there at the time of your children, keeping in mind the climate change, digitalization, and diseases or viruses. So, the cliché statement that every parent has said to their child at least once—Humare samay mei hum ye kiya karte the…—needs to be avoided. Because the world is changing every second.



Are we over-protective of our children? We need to be smarter with our parenting skills because it’s not going to be easy. It’s very difficult to raise a child in today’s environment where there are thousands of things pushing them in the wrong direction.
