Realising early on that making a film is not something you can do alone, Luke gained first hand experience on a variety of Film & TV projects in the art department before making the transition to become a Production Designer himself. He cites Alien, Blade Runner, and British Indies like Quadraphenia as being pretty seminal for him growing up and although Luke didn’t always intend to be a production designer, he absolutely knew that he wanted to tell stories. He really appreciates elements of his career that allow him to be involved from the beginning, working with the director, writer and the DoP to help create a shared vision, which he was lucky enough to experience through his work on Chernobyl.

Luke believes that there’s a pace to television that can be intense but it often is more a producer’s medium, allowing him to start earlier on with writers/show runners to develop a world, and he loves being able to see a job all the way through from beginning to end. His imagination and eye for detail has led to work on Fortitude and Howards End, and he is keen to keep that variation going, currently working on the Game of Thrones prequel.
