Today we're going to be taking a look at part number 55542. This is the Curt T-Connector Vehicle Wiring Harness. It's going to have the 4-Pole Flat Trailer Connector. That way it's going to provide the 4-way flat connector at the back of your vehicle to power your trailer signal lights. This is compatible with 5-pole, 6-pole, and 7-pole adapters. Those adapters are sold separately.

If you need one, we do carry those here on our website. This product is going to fit the 2003-2013 Toyota Corolla. One of the great features and benefits of a system like this is that it's going to connect quickly and easily. You don't have to worry about cutting or splicing any of your wires. All you have to do is locate the connection points in the rear cargo area. Those are going to be located behind the driver side and passenger side interior trim panels, and then simply just plug in your t-connectors.

These plugs are a real easy installation. They're going to match up perfectly with the plugs on your vehicle, and literally all you have to do is just snap them into place, and then they're going to lock into position for a nice, tight, secure fit. The side with the green wire, that's going to run to the passenger side. That's why it's got some extra bundle of wire there. The side with the red and yellow wire and brown and white, that's going to stay on the driver side of the vehicle. If we just follow that wiring harness, it's going to take us to this black box right here.

This is going to be your tail light converter. This is already pre-wired in, and that's designed to ensure that your vehicle's wiring matches that of your trailer's. It's going to be constructed using surface-mount technology. It's going to offer consistent reliable performance. What that means is it's going to maximize your trailer light yield and intensity while producing minimal heat.

It's also going to ensure superior operation even in rough road conditions. On this side of the box we're going to have the wiring for the 4-way connector. You'll see we've got plenty of wiring. It's all bundled up right now, but that way you can extend it out the back of your vehicle and make your connection as needed for your particular application. Here at the end of that wiring we're going to have the plug. It's going to be our standard 4-way flat plug, and that's going to include a nice dust cap. That way we can cover up the connection points when the connector's not being used. Once your installation is complete, the 4-way flat connector's going to be stowed in an out-of-the-way location within the cargo area on your vehicle. When it comes to the maximum amperage for the stop and turn lights, we're looking at 3 amps per circuit, and for the tail lights we're looking at 5 amps per circuit. A couple other things that you're going to get. You're going to get very detailed instructions, got some nice pictures on there. It makes the installation much easier. Those are going to walk you through the entire process step by step. You're going to get some double-sided adhesive tape. That way you can mount and secure the tail light converter box. And you're going to get some zip ties. That way you can secure any excess or slack in the wiring. It makes for an overall cleaner appearance for your installation. We're also going to recommend that you use a small amount of dielectric grease on all electrical connections to help prevent any type of corrosion from being able to settle in.
