Metkoot or Menthe Hittu (Kannada) is a traditional Maharashtrian/Karnataka recipe. This is a very good side dish. It can be introduced to small babies when you start solids for them. Also, it tastes great when you are unwell or weak to be consumed with rice and ghee.
This is a healthy and light-on stomach recipe. Please try making this at home and don't forget to comment.

Ingredients:
• 4 cup Chana dal
• 1/2 tsp Hing / Asafetida
• 3 tsp Turmeric powder
• 1 cup Urad dal
• 1 cup Rice
• 1 cup Wheat
• 3 tsp Mustard seeds
• 4 tbsp Coriander seeds
• 1 tsp Fenugreek seeds
• 2 tsp Cumin seeds

Method:
Heat up a pan on medium heat.
Dry Roast all the ingredients one by one except hing and turmeric.
Make sure you roast on medium to low flame, otherwise some ingredients may burn and turn black. They give a bitter taste to Methkoot.
After grinding (I always make it grounded in a flour mill as I make it in bulk) add turmeric and hing powder. Mix well and store in an airtight container.
It can be stored and used up to six months.
