Friday Feature Artist - Sarah Z Short

𝐒𝐚𝐫𝐚𝐡 𝐙 𝐒𝐡𝐨𝐫𝐭 is a collage artist and printmaker based in Rhode Island in the US. Her background as an English teacher may explain her love of books. From the covers to the well-turned pages, books are her materials of choice for her art. The tactile touch of paper and wooden type appeal to Sarah as she repurposes stories of the past in her contemporary art practice.

Sarah adds typography to her compositions, using letterpress printing and choosing wooden type pieces based not on the words she could create, but on the shapes they make when printed.
