It came to be known as the 'eBay Haunted Painting', after owners allegations about paranormal experiences.
It is created by Ben stoneham in 1972.
According to Stoneham, the boy is based on a photograph of himself at age five. The doorway is a representation of the dividing line between the waking world and the world of fantasy and impossibilities, while the doll is a guide that will escort the boy through it.
Said to have been responsible for the deaths of the art gallery owner and the first critic to review it, the painting popped up on eBay in 2000, for sale, where the owners revealed the boy getting out of the painting and the doll coming to life, all on camera!

People who stay at the hotel report that the painting's expressions change, people feel uneasy and even sick after looking at it for too long. Some even reported seeing a phantom of a little girl playing with a ball.
