We've reviewed almost every type of case ranging from wallet cases, iPhone action cases, waterproof and shockproof cases and a few slim cases as well. The five cases listed below are the ones that we find ourselves gravitating to on a day-to-day basis.

5. Thule Atmos X3 - A great slim case (one of the thinnest shock proof cases we've come across). The Atmos X3 feels great, doesn't add a lot of bulk/weight to your iPhone 5 or 5S.

4. Seidio Obex - We've been waiting for a 5S version of this case but sadly it hasn't come out. The Obex is a case like LifeProof and Otterbox cases but its much slimmer. The tapered back minimizes the bulk of the case which is nice.

3. Any Lunatik iPhone case - We've reviewed two Taktik Extremes, the Strike and the Seismik and we love them all. Lunatik creates products that are exceptionally well designed and built. They don't rate them to any MilSpec but we can safely say that you can toss a Lunatik Taktik Extreme with an iPhone in it 30 ft in the air and you'll still have a working iPhone.

2. LifeProof Nuud - This is our goto case. This is a iPhone case that provides water and shock protection while keeping the iPhone touchscreen free of any annoying plastic screen protector. The ability to use an iPhone without any screen protector is what puts the case ahead of almost every other case that we've reviewed.

1. The HitCase Pro - We love our HitCase Pro. The case itself is well designed and built but we love the HitCase ecosystem. The Chestr mount, the integration with GoPro accessories, the Vidometer app, all these features, coupled with the HitCase Pro is what makes this the best iPhone case every made.

HitCase has taken a lot of time thinking about how to use your iPhone in extreme circumstances and created accessories to help you capture everything you're doing with the iPhone's camera.

On our shame list? The Otterbox Armor and Incipio Atlas and Atlas ID. These expensive iPhone cases reduce the functionality of your iPhone, essentially rendering them into useless electronic bricks.
