Brice Marden’s early work brought together the painterly quality of abstract expressionism with the intellectual rigours of minimalism, achieving a striking balance between emotional intensity and formal simplicity.

The American Artist Lecture Series is a partnership between Art In Embassies, Tate Modern and US Embassy London. It seeks to bring the greatest living modern and contemporary American artists to the UK in the name of cultural diplomacy.
