This Asymod 7 Ranger RCI-2995 DXCF DARP EX offers all the basic functions needed for a Hi-Fi AM and eSSB station.

In addition to the standard DARP build, the EX includes an Asymod Enable / Disable switch, which allows to completely bypass the Asymod 7 and enables the radio's RF power control and Mic Gain putting the radio 100% back to factory specs. The DARP EX has a built in RF Sampler to use with a monitor scope, an AMP Keyer, TX and RX audio record Line Out jack and a VFO Whine On / Off switch. All conveniently located in the new rear panel. This build also includes an upgraded 10,000 uF main filter cap and display filter.

With front panel controls, including a built in AM demodulator which allows you to monitor yourself in Hi-Fi. The AM demodulator has level (volume) and tone controls and can be completely disabled. The demodulated audio from the AM detector is routed to the level and tone controls and then to the radio's built in audio amplifier.

The amplifier output has been configured so that the audio when operating the demodulator is fed to the headphone jack in front of the radio but not to the radio's speaker when the headphones are disconnected to avoid feedback.

This allows you to listen to the received signal when in receive mode and listen to your transmitted audio while in transmit mode, both when using headphones. No need to listen to yourself using a separate receiver to tune your station. Get it right the first time! The transmitted audio can be recorded using the playback recorder and you can play yourself back. The playback recorder is a 10 second recorder which allows for recording of the incoming signals which can be played back onto the air.

The Hi/Low RF power switch allows to switch from a single final radio (16W) to a 150W radio using the radio's built in RF power amplifier. The DARP PLUS includes two noise toys, one with leading edge TX trigger Ricochet and adjustable TX trailing edge effects, the second is a tone adjustable roger beep and both can be enabled or disabled. This unit also includes the VFO Whine effect which can be enabled or disabled at the switch in the rear panel. The Asymod 7 controls are all conveniently in the front panel, this provides quick access to your adjustments.

The Asymod 7 has a built-in amp keying relay which is connected to the AMP KEY jack in the rear panel to allow direct keying of RF power amplifiers. This is especially handy in SSB where the RF amps using RF sensing to key up, unkey between words. Since studio microphones don’t have PTT switches, the PA jack has been converted to a PTT jack to key up using a foot pedal or mouse. Also, this build has an RF sampler with its output available at the BNC connector in the rear panel to monitor your audio envelope or analyze your TX signal with an oscilloscope or spectrum analyzer without the need of additional couplers in the RF line.

As all Asymod installations, from the detectors to the audio amplifier, including the 6 kHz filter has been upgraded for Hi-Fi receive. You have your Line In connector in the rear. Fan and display noise suppression filter are included with this unit which completely removes the annoying fan and display noise from the 2995's audio to make your Hi-Fi experience even better!
