In this tattoo challenge video, I'll be doing an American Traditional skull tattoo in the dark...wearing night vision goggles.

Definitely DO NOT try this at home.

No lights, no peripheral vision, zero depth perception - just me, NVGs, and 15+ years of muscle memory trying to make it work.

Was it smart? Not really.
Was it fun? Weirdly, yeah.

If you've heard me talk about tattooing linework before, then you know I talk about how you'll feel a specific vibration in your stretching hand. I ended up relying on that more than ever during this tattoo because it was nearly impossible to see the actual needle while I was working.

Shading was easier than lining for sure, I was able to see the mag a lot easier than my round liner, and years of whip shading muscle memory kicked in.

We decided not to pack color into this design because when you're wearing night vision goggles...you can't really see different colors. So we stuck to just a few pops of color ;)

This was a cool project to take on, but I'll be honest...we're probably not going to try tattooing like this ever again 😂
