Miele C3 vacuum cleaner cable reel / spool repair ( zero dollar solution )

My Miele C3 vacuum cleaner had an issue with the cable reel. The problem was that the cable stop didn’t work and that the cable kept spooling into the cleaner in stead of locking in position.
The problem was caused by a broken leaf spring in the locking and release mechanism.

The solution I’ve chosen and show in this video is to completely remove the latch that regulates the locking and releasing the reel. Result is that you have to keep the button pressed to fully spool the cable. Good news is: it works, you don’t have to buy a new cable reel and the mechanism won't break in the future :)
