My Olde English Bull Doggy suffered a traumatic experience getting her bottom jaw stuck in the fence while jumping/playing with a water hose, and was suspended in the air by her jaw. After I unhooked her jaw, she immediately started showing all the signs of BLOAT. Throwing up, dry heaving, excessive drooling, foaming saliva around her bottom jaw, lethargic, struggling to walk, gums and tongue losing color, stressed and not wanting to come to me when I called (highly unusual); and all this happened within 15 minutes from the start of the trauma. Because I saw the way she was hanging and attempting to unhinge herself, I made a calculated assumption as to which way her stomach twisted inside of her. My mother-in-law said, “Miracles do happen...” So I thought to myself, well, it’s not going to happen by just starting at her and watching her deteriorate before my eyes. I was in no position to take her to the hospital and pay for a surgery that could potentially cost up to $8,000 from the research I was doing at the same time. I then tried to visualize which way her stomach twisted and which way I would need to turn her to attempt to untwist her stomach. I picked her up (she weighs about 75 pounds), cradled her on her right side so she was lateral to the ground, and rolled her once in a counter direction of the twist. As she was rolling in my arms, and towards the end of the roll, I heard a burp in her chest area. I set her down. At this point, I was very distraught with everything that just happened over the last 15 minutes and had my father-in-law watch her while I ran to Costco for some errands. I was also pretty hopeful because of the burp I heard and truly believed what I did worked! I got back about 25 minuets later to find her asleep. Within 15 minuets, she was walking around and came to me to be pet and held. A half hour after that, she was right back to her usual self! I was in disbelief. Everything I ever heard about bloat was, it’s 100% death for a dog without surgery. I made this video for anyone that thinks there’s no hope and at least wants to try something for their dog, but I know the facts of bloat and I truly believe it was a Miracle.
