This is a barn owl (Tito Alba) nest near the "Casa Palillos" visitor center in Cabañeros National Park, located between the provinces of Ciudad Real and Toledo in Castilla-La Mancha, Spain.

Its current area is 40,856 hectares. It was declared a national park in 1995 because "it is of common public interest to protect Cabañeros as a natural space representative of the Mediterranean forest ecosystem."

One of the most remarkable ecosystems is the "Laña", a vast expanse of grassland almost devoid of trees, surrounded by mountains covered with Mediterranean forests. This area is an ideal place for barn owls to hunt the small rodents and birds that they feed on.

Barn owls usually build their nests in cavities in houses, without the presence of humans. This nest box was installed more than 20 years ago, as there were fewer and fewer available holes to encourage breeding. Since then, they have endured the noise of the many visitors that visit the park every year, and rarely go a year without breeding.

Sex differences:
♂️：Whiter, slightly spotted on the abdomen and sides, slightly more prominent edama
⚫︎DAD Name：Basillito

♀：Darker, very prominent ruff (appears to have "beards") with very prominent spots on the chest, abdomen and sides
