Where should I stay in Tulum? Tulum Town or Tulum Beach?

Tulum is a small town on the east coast of the Yucatan Peninsula in Mexico, famous for its beaches, cenotes and ruins. It is divided into two distinct areas: Tulum Town and Tulum Beach. The Beach is a strip that runs along the coast, where you'll find all the luxury resorts, restaurants and hotels. The Town is the urban heart of Tulum, where most of the locals live.

Before we travelled to Tulum, we read a lot of conflicting information online about where is best to stay. Some say you should stay in Tulum Town, others say you should stay in Tulum Beach.

In 2019, we spent two weeks exploring the Yucatan Peninsula and spent time in both Tulum Town and Tulum Beach, so we could decide for ourselves which we thought was best.

In this Tulum Travel Guide, I wanted to share the pros and cons of each location based on our experience. So, if you're planning a trip to Tulum and you aren't sure where to stay, hopefully this video will help you decide.
