Mikrotik router setup steps

1-raname nic cards to nic1,nic2 on server control panel
2- setup network teaming on server manager
3- add hyperv roles then choose network teaming as the nic to use
4- goto control panel to rename new hyperv network card to WAN and configure your public ip to it
5- goto hyperv manager create a WAN network switch and assign it to your WAN server nic
6- goto hyperv manager create a LAN network switch as private network
7- setup mikrotik router vm and assign its network card to WAN (network switch created earlier )
8- do basic configuration on mikrotik vm setting then start the vm and agree to mikrotik basic terms
9- use winbox to login to vm router with default admin account
10- once login to mikrotik vm router goto: Interface and rename the interface to: ether1-WAN then turn off the vm
11- goto mikrotik vm setting add LAN network switch then turn on vm
12- login to mikrotik router using winbox then goto Interface and raname the second interface to: ether2-LAN
13- goto mikrotik router: ip/address ip information for you LAN and WAN
14- goto mikrotik router: ip/dns and setup your public dns
15- goto mikrotik router: ip/dhcp and setup your dhcp server for your LAN
16- goto mikrotik router: ip/routes and setup your route for your network
17- goto mikrotik router: ip/firewall/NAT and setup srcnat maskquerade for your network
(this means only device for that subnet and physically attached to your network can go online using your router)
18- at this point your router should be online, click on New Terminal windows to ping google.com or other website to see if you get replies
19- secure your router little bit, click on system/users then create new admin users with full right access, make sure you can login with admin
user and can do admin right before disable or delete default user admin account.
20 - continuing secure your router: goto ip/services disable all service port except for Winbox port
---now your router is setup and online lets add few vm pc to the network then see if we can go online
21- create a windows vm then and assign its network to the LAN network switch that we created earlier if everything goes right
it should pick up ip information from the router dhcp server on the router and go online with 1mbps speed limit
