The government has issued an order allotting the Kasargod camp office to the CBI, which is probing the Periya twin murder case. The camp will be held at the PWD Rest House. The camp will be officially handed over next week. The CBI said it needed staff and a vehicle in addition to the camp. Allowing employees is at the discretion of the police chief.

The controversial case pertains to the murder of 22-year-old Kripesh and 24-year-old Sharath Lal, two Youth Congress workers in Kerala’s Kasaragod. CPI(M) local leader Peethambaran is the key accused in the murder of the duo which happened in February 2019.

The CBI has sent a letter to the government, seeking permission to stay in Kasaragod camp office to conduct the investigation. At first, the government denied the request and the probe team sent another letter with the same request.

The CBI has already launched the probe. The CBI probe team is being led by S P Nandakumar and DYSP Ananthakrishnan.
