Diego Infante and Freedom Bremner have come together for their first collaboration “This Feeling” by Hey Tú, featuring Freedom Bremner. Diego produced a joyful 90's style, French house inspired track, and gave Freedom free reign to write the lyrics and create the vocal arrangements based purely on his inspiration. There was no pre-conceived concept or message, no mandate, other than "let's create something we both love". Producer , writer, guitarist, and multi-instrumentalist, Diego Infante is the creative force behind Hey Tú, and this is the first release from Hey Tú’s upcoming EP, Strange Vibrations. Diego, a veteran producer, remixer, and musical director of the Disney Channel's Zapping Zone, first met Freedom in Mexico City in 2012, at a Screaming Headless Torsos concert at the music school, Escuela DIM. Freedom was the lead singer of the Torsos at that time, and Diego had been a music teacher there and was the sound engineer for that show. Years later, while Diego was creating the music for the Hey Tú concept, he came up with a dance track that he thought would be perfect for Freedom. So, with the help of WhatsApp, they began a process of sharing ideas, lyrics, and audio files between Mexico City (Diego) and Newark, New Jersey (Freedom), until they both felt the song was just right. Then came the video…..
Diego comes from a family of famous Mexican actors and singers, most notably his grand uncle Pedro Infante, an international Latin American ido, and one of the legends of Mexico's golden age of cinema. Diego had a video concept from the very beginning,. He wanted to capture Freedom walking through different neighborhoods with a special camera rig mounted to his body, that would make Freedom appear to glide from scene to scene through the different neighborhoods. Part of his concept was to intercut the neighborhood scenes with dancers, choreographed by his brother dancer/choreographer, Sebastian Infante, that Diego would film in Mexico City. He had other ideas surprises in his directorial vision too.
Unknown to Diego, at the last minute, Freedom changed his plans to shoot in Newark, and instead headed into Manhattan, straight into the heart of the Pride Day Parade on Saturday, June 30th, 2019, with a small crew of friends, including vocalist and dancer Jaquita May. Jaquita who sings on This Feeling , also choreographed and performed in the “dance class” sequences shot in the Flatiron District of Manhattan with the PRIDE parade in the background. What no one could have known, was just how powerful the joyful, love-filled energy of Pride Day at 23rd st and 5th avenue would be. It would ultimately transform the video. It changed the entire mood of the shoot and created spontaneous moments, inspiration, and magic, all caught on camera.
“This Feeling” is a song about love, and Pride Day was an awesome celebration of love, consciousness, and acceptance. The City of New York and Pride Day Parade will forever be a part of “This Feeling”.
