Here are some great facts about the Church of St.George
Built within Babylon Fortress in Coptic Cairo, north of the Coptic Museum,
the Greek Orthodox Monastery and Church of Saint George.
It’s dedicated to Saint George who is said to have once killed a dragon.
Originally, it was built in 684 AD by the wealthy scribe Athanasius.
St George (Mar Girgis) is one of the region’s most popular Christian saints.
