The Not-So-General Epistles

Matthew 16v28-17v3, "Verily I say unto you, There be some standing here, which shall not taste of death, till they see the Son of man coming in his kingdom. [1] And after six days Jesus taketh Peter, James, and John his brother, and bringeth them up into an high mountain apart, [2] And was transfigured before them: and his face did shine as the sun, and his raiment was white as the light. [3] And, behold, there appeared unto them Moses and Elias talking with him."

Pastor Bob showed us how the epistles of Peter, James, and John had a specific audience, theme, and direction. Human generalities often oppose God's purposes, even when well-meaning. After an overview, Pastor began to focus on James.

[NOTE: Yes, we are aware that James of the Twelve is not James the Lord's brother. However, we believe the intersection of these men in the Scripture is no coincidence, as explained in this message.]
