The communal controversy strikes up again and again and this time its on the portrait of Muhammad Ali Jinnah, hung on the walls of the Aligarh Muslim University’s students’ union hall.
The members of the groups entered the University's campus at around 3 PM shouting 'Jai Shri Ram', and 'Jinnah Murdabad'.
They allegedly demanded Jinnah's portrait to be removed within 48 hours from the campus.
Many students of Aligarh Muslim University staged a protest after police allegedly caned them for marching to lodge a complaint against Hindu group that sought removal of Mohammed Ali Jinnah's portrait from the varsity's campus.
At least six people were injured when the police lobbed teargas shells to disperse AMU students, demanding the arrest of protesters who had earlier barged into the campus shouting slogans.
The protest puts a question mark on the on the communal harmony in the university.
