Hyundai Motor Group has celebrated the groundbreaking of its first EV plant in the United States.
The construction of the 5 billion dollar plant comes amid South Korea's continued efforts to amend the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act.

South Korea's largest automaker, Hyundai Motor Company,... has broken ground on its massive electric vehicle plant in the U.S.
The ceremony took place in Georgia on Tuesday,... with the construction of the facility set to begin in the first half of 2023.
The event had actually been scheduled to take place early next year, but reports say it was moved forward amid issues with the Inflation Reduction Act.


"Our ten billion dollar investment in this EV plant and other U.S. operations is proof of our strong commitment to electrification and the region."

Commercial production is expected to begin in 2025,.. with a capacity of 300 thousand units a year from Hyundai Motor, Kia Motors, and Genesis.


"The site we come to visit today will become another landmark in the history of Korean investments in the United States."

U.S. government officials also praised the multi-billion dollar investment,.. as it is expected to create more than 8-thousand jobs.


"Thank you for bringing even more jobs to the number one state for business."

President Biden also welcomed the news in a statement,.... and highlighted Hyundai's commitment to invest more than 5 billion dollars in the facility and create new jobs.

Against this backdrop, South Korean officials continue to demand revisions to the U.S. Inflation Reduction Act,... which exempts EVs manufactured outside North America from tax credits.
The South Korean Ambassador to the U.S. says Seoul and Washington are discussing "several possible options" to solve what South Korea claims to be unfair policies.
