This is a great Cedarwood essential oil recipe for kids when they have a cold! I love it for kids who are about five, six, or seven years old. Cedarwood is gentle and effective, and their systems tend to respond really well to it.

I’m making this essential oil recipe in 1 oz (28 g) of unscented skin cream. You can get unscented cream from many different suppliers. I love the cream made by Aromatics International—my skin seems to drink it up! It’s so nourishing.

You’ll need a 1 oz (30 ml) glass jar. The essential oil recipe is:

1 oz (28 g) unscented cream (0:42)
3 drops Cedarwood essential oil (Juniperus virginiana) (1:53)
2 drops Elemi essential oil (Canarium luzonicum) (2:55)
1 drop Lemon essential oil (Citrus limon) (3:22)

Use a glass stirring stick, or the handle of stainless steel spoon, to mix it all up. Then you’re finished! (How easy was that, right?)

There are many different kinds of “Cedarwood” essential oil. I’m using Juniperus virginiana in this recipe. I just love its soft, woody aroma, and it’s one of my favorite essential oils to use for children.

If you’re not familiar with Elemi essential oil, I hope you give it a try! It’s distilled from a resin, just like Frankincense. Elemi has a unique aroma that reminds me of Black Pepper and Lemon, and it’s excellent for soothing skin and supporting open breathing.

When a child gets sick, you can rub some of this “essential oil cold cream” on their chest, shoulders, upper back, low back, and anywhere it feels nourishing to them. It can help them breathe more deeply, and soothe them into getting more rest.
